Unlike the polished, honed or brushed surface treatments we are accustomed to, leather finish surfaces, which offer a sophisticated look with their texture, have started to become a new trend. Surfaces that offer a leather-covered appearance are not as shiny as polished marble surfaces, but offer a matte and slight shine. Leather finish surfaces can be obtained as a result of a certain sequence of honing, wire brush, patinato brush and polish abrasives. Due to its semi-slip structure, it is suitable for use on open area floors, as steps and flooring.

How are leather finishes created?

Leather finishing starts with a honed surface. Abrasives used for honing are essential intermediates in smoothing the surface of the stone. Then, thin pits are created on the surface by using diamond-tipped or steel-wire brushes that add texture. With the help of brushes, the marble surface is aged and gains an antique look. The texture to be produced in each marble varies depending on the structure of the marble. The texture formed on a homogeneous marble surface will be thinner than marble surfaces with more complex components. Since the pores in the stone texture are much more closed on leather finish applied surfaces, it is more resistant to stains than honed marbles. They are easier to maintain than honed surfaces. It leaves less water stains and fingerprints on the surface than polished marbles.

Where are leather finish surfaces suitable for?

Leather-finish surface-treated marbles, which have become more and more popular recently, have started to be preferred frequently in exterior and interior designs thanks to their non-slip properties, dirt-free structure, aesthetic and antique appearance. It is widely used in dozens of projects such as bathroom flooring, kitchen countertops, wall coverings, airports with high traffic, and shopping malls.
